TEACHING CHILDREN FIRE SAFETY

 Safety Precautions - Fire Prevention

·         Prepare an evacuation plan and practice it with your children.

·         Supervise young children closely. Do not leave them alone even for short periods of time.

·         Keep matches and lighters in secured drawers or cabinets.

·         Teach you child proper stove protocol. Do not let them use the stove or oven unsupervised.

·         Show your children how to crawl low on the floor in order to stay below the smoke.

·         Teach you children to drop and roll on the ground in case their clothes ever catch fire.

·         Teach your children the nature of fire. It is hot, fast and extremely dangerous.

·         Inspect your house for evidence of children playing with matches or lighters.

·         Teach your children to inform you when they find matches or lighters.

·         Teach your children where the emergency numbers are kept and how to use them in the event of a fire.

·         Having a smoke detector greatly improves your chances of surviving a fire and remember to practice a home escape plan with you family.
