BEC crew helps restore power to Inagua

As of 8:00p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008, a BEC work crew dispatched to hurricane torn Inagua to assist in repairs reports that approximately 85% of the repairs are complete.

Restoration of power to the remaining areas of Inagua that are without power is ongoing, and additional supplies are being obtained to ensure that repairs are fully completed.

Since restoration began, power on the island was disrupted from time to time in order to carry out repairs to the electricity system. Power has since been restored but some buildings remain without supply due to structural damage.  BEC restoration crew leader Paul Tynes says the remainder of supplies that can be restored should be completed by the end of next week.
