Junior Achievement

As a part of our community effort, BEC has been a corporate sponsor of the Junior Achievement (JA) Program since its inception in 1979.

This non-profit business economic education organization is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Sports & Culture and the Private Sector. BEC's JA Company provides learning experiences for young people in grades 10 through 12.

JA is currently established in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Central Andros, Eleuthera, South Andros, Exuma, North Andros, Abaco, the Berry Islands and Long Island.

Volunteers from local businesses and the community share their expertise with students.

The BEC volunteers serve as role models, and use a nationally-designed curriculum to help students develop life skills and gain an understanding of business and economics.

The BEC JA Company meets on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The group is made up of students from both private and public schools with students maintaining a 2.00 GPA.

BEC won the Company of the Year Award 2002/2003.
